The Baye is one of the principal houses in this peaceful village and is privately set within extensive gardens. A gated drive leads to extensive parking in front of the house with further parking to the rear.
On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, cloakroom, a dining room that can seat 16, a large drawing room with an open fire and French doors to the garden; a fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room with American-style fridge/freezer, 2 oven gas Aga, double electric oven and 2 ring gas hob, walk in larder, dishwasher, and table for 6.
Adjacent there is an utility room with washing machine, dryer and microwave.
Beyond is a sitting room with smart TV (Sky) and woodburner. There is also a cinema room with large flat screen, again with Sky.
On the first floor there is an extensive landing/reception area with mini grand piano and sofas, a principal bedroom with Superking bed and ensuite bathroom & shower; 2 double bedrooms with Kingsize beds, one bedroom with a Superking bed & ensuite shower; one double bedroom (5’ bed), a family bathroom with shower.
Steps with restricted headroom lead up to an attic room with twin beds and an ensuite shower room.
To the left of the drive is an enclosed Astro turf tennis court. Beyond is a lawned garden and large pond and island seating area with sofas and chairs. There is a large heated swimming pool with surrounding sun terrace, sunbeds, sofas and chairs, and hot tub. The adjacent pool house has a gym, sauna and shower. Close to the rear of the house, accessible from the kitchen, is a delightful terrace with BBQ, table and chairs that seats 10.
To the rear of the house is a detached leisure barn with full size snooker table and fitted bar. Surrounding the house are extensive lawned gardens, ideal for entertaining.
Ickham is a peaceful and picturesque village situated halfway between Sandwich and the cathedral city of Canterbury, both accessible within 15 minutes. The village boasts an excellent pub within walking distance, the Duke William and The Tor Spa, www.torsparetreat.com whilst Wingham, a mile away has The Dog Inn, an award-winning gastro restaurant.
Nearby Littlebourne and Wingham both offer further local amenities including shops, doctors’ surgeries, pubs and a garage.
Canterbury offers all the amenities associated with a major provincial city including an extensive shopping centre, the Marlowe & Gulbenkian theatres, together with a hospital and other services.
Ickham is served 3 times daily by a local bus service, whilst from Canterbury East and West mainline stations there are connections to the high-speed train service at Ashford, the travel time to London’s St Pancras being just 56 minutes.
